Combining fully coated, computer designed optics with high speed internal gyro-stabilizing system, the PELENG 1240 is the ultimate instrument for long range observation, tracking and surveillance. Produced for the Soviet military, it is standard equipment aboard the MIR space station. The unit is also widely used by the KGB, SPEZNAZ and recently the Canadian Coast Guard, Border Patrol and others.

By stabilizing the high power optics (not the entire device), the image remains steady and clear, free from the effects of normal body tremor, as well as the motion aboard aircraft and land vehicles. The result is increased operator accuracy with less fatigue.

The PELENG operates with 6AA batteries, or an external 12-28V DC source. When switched off, can be used as conventional 12 x 40 binocular.
